McKELVEY PARK (draft)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project utilizes the existing open space of the ball fields by embedding them 18 feet below grade, creating a flood water detention area of over 4.5 acres. The park boasts three new amenity buildings, including a community room, public restrooms, and snack bar, that support the ball fields. Through scale and materiality, the buildings endeavor to negotiate their position on the edge of a suburban context and major infrastructure project.
