DE+ designed this post and beam pavilion as a modern counterpoint to an existing half timbered Spanish Colonial family house. While stylistically different from the main house, the pavilion maintains the black and white orthogonal patterns of the larger building.
The site of the pavilion is the site of an existing array of photovoltaic panels. The building is essentially tucked under the existing array, and takes its roof form from the functional angle of the panels. The pavilion includes a main workout/ meditation space, as well as a bathroom and sleeping loft.
